30-Hour Famine March 9 and 10
February 24, 2012
The 30-Hour Famine is coming up on March 9 and 10, for youth in grades 8 through 12. This event raises monetary and food donations for third world countries as well as for our Southington Bread for Life. During our 30 hours we will fast together and learn about how other children are simply deprived of clean water, food, and medical attention. The event begins at Zion on Friday the 9th at 6 pm and the fast ends the next day at 5 pm with a third world meal. If you are interested in participating in this event, please contact Karin Thompson at 860-426-1737 or the church office at 860-628-5759. We are also in need of adult help.

Lenten Bible Study – Making Sense of the Cross
February 12, 2012
On Mondays at 7 pm, a group is gathering for an exciting study called Making Sense of the Cross. There is no expectation that you have certain prior knowledge of the Bible or theology. Just bring your questions and openness to talk about matters of the cross and resurrection of Jesus. We are gathering for 60 minutes on Monday nights for six weeks. Come think about the central event for the Christian faith – the Cross and Resurrection.
Bake Sale – Feb 11 and 12
February 4, 2012
This year the Youth Group in conjunction with Christian Welfare will have a bake sale after church on Saturday, February 11th and after both services on Sunday, February 12th. The proceeds of this bake sale will be split to help support the “Love Fund” and a service chosen by the youth group. Please consider baking or buying goodies for your loved ones so that we can show love to those in our community and beyond.
At Zion we have a fund called “The Love Fund”. This is a discretionary fund used by pastor to help show love in our community by giving to those in need—when they knock at Zion’s door looking for “help” to feed their children or put gas in their car. In this tough economy those needs come more often.
If you would like to contribute by baking please contact Barbara Welton at 860 628-7814 or email bnbwltn[at]cox.net.
Thank you in advance for your contributions to these causes.
