“Love your neighbor as yourself” Matthew 22:39
Thanksgiving is coming and there are many people right here in Southington won- dering how they are going to provide a special meal for their families. We can help.
Southington Social Services is asking that we help put together baskets or boxes for families of 1-12 people. As you grocery shop this coming week, please pick up some extra for a family in need. Please bring items to church next Sunday, November 13th. A committee will be making up the baskets and boxes, but if you would
like, you are welcome to make up your own basket or box to be delivered to Social Services– just indicate for what size family it’s intended. Items needed:
canned corn, canned green beans, stuffing, corn muffin mix, cranberry sauce, gravy grocery gift certificates for $15-$20 (for a Turkey), pie filling/crust
To make for more festive baskets the following would add that special touch to their day:
holiday paper plates/napkins, candles, centerpiece, large basket or decorated box
Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Zion Book Club meets November 28 @ 7 pm
November 8, 2011
The next book is When Christ Comes by Max Lucado.
In When Christ Comes, bestselling Christian author Max Lucado us- es common stories, often drawn from his own life, to explore the challenging question of the Second Coming of Christ. Lucado’s pri- mary concern is not theological but practical: how should we re- spond? And what should we do in the meantime? His answer is clear, if paradoxical: “wait forwardly,” he writes. Be “patiently vigilant.” Live in expectation even as you live fully in the present.
New Member Information Meeting Monday Nov. 7th or Thursday Nov. 10th
November 8, 2011
Becoming a member of Zion is not a prerequisite for participation in
our congregation or our ministries, however it is the best way to be a genuine part
of the church. Public vows taken in joining the church serve as a powerful reminder that we are not ashamed to identify with Christ or his people. Membership opens you to greater opportunities to use the spiritual gifts God has given you as a disci- ple of Christ. Membership information classes will be held Monday, Nov. 7 from 7-9 pm or Thursday. Nov. 10 from 7-9 pm. New members will be received in worship on the weekend of November 20.
